I have to say the first 3 items are more about the self, the personal, while the remaining 4 involves others like friends, readers, and possibly customers.

A New Challenge and Experience - the experience might be new for first timer, or the technology could cause some troubles from time to time; the writing itself wouldn't be much of a new thing. However, the challenge blogging brings is always there. Treat blogging as a routine, or a habit. It isn't easy to keep it in the beginning; that's part of the challenge. Even when it's built into the daily life, then it's the content quality that would require some brain work; that's also part of the challenge.

A Way to Improve Your Writing - any writing can be way to improve writing. However, blogging, especially on niche topics, the ideas and contents, even the formatting would be different from what we might've learn in school.

A Way to Shape Your Mindset and Identity - I think this sort of talking about blogging  nonfiction, because I believe fictions should not have a set of mindset, the mindset for fiction writing should be flexible for possibility and creativity. Writing nonfiction, to me, is like writing ethic, and the mindset and identity are important factors for ethic.

A way to Help and Inspire Others - for a blog of "how to," it definitely offered help. On the other hand, the inspiration could go both ways. As for a controversial topic, like a debate, people stand on different sides. In today's world, most open-minded people would respect the opposite side, study the opposite thoughts to better defend, or change, their original thinking.

 A Way to Become an Expert - yes, after many work put in and staying on one topic, except the result doesn't come easy. It really takes the writing to first become professional (#2 IMPROVEMENT) so the overall appears to be EXPERT.

A Way to Enlarge Your Social Network - building upon #3 and #4, once the voice got spread out, it creates resonance among readers, the sharing of ideas, view points, and comments build the connections. It could turn into an amazing result, new friends and new ideas to explore.

A Way to Earn Income - as the original posting blog, How to Blog A Book, titles, blogging could turn into published book. Other than the physical copy, writing itself is publishing. As a blogger, which in this case the publisher, it could attract a few sellers to ask for reviews and so forth.
